Urban Paper show wrap up

The show was a huge success! Truly wonderful, with so many great people who were all just blown away by the sheer awesomeness of the many fantastic paper toy creations on display.

Thank you to all who came and added to the incredible energy that made it so much fun. And thanks to Matt Hawkins for putting together such a cool book, and for putting together the show. And thanks to all of the artists who contributed to the show, to Wonhee, Jessica & Stella at Mobius, Rich Kim for spinning some amazing tunes, to Scott Schaller and his class,
to Meg and Judy, and to Spanky Stokes and Muana of spankystokes.com.

And thanks to anyone I missed, and to everyone of you who support the paper toy movement and who have helped also make NicePapertoys.com such a huge success as well. We hit 1000 members on the same day as the show! Sweet!

Been taking a break!

To those of you who visit my blog on occasion, I must apologize for my very limited updates as of late. I have been taking a much needed break, while at the same time keeping extremely busy with other things. I will be popping in from time to time to mention anything worth mentioning. At least until I am finished with my current, top secret projects, at which time I will return with more creative goodness, madness, or crap. Whatever. I hope you will still be around to see whatever that may be. :)

The Resin Collective Show

If you are in Phoenix in April, be sure to check out the Resin Collective show at Red Hot Robot.
One of my Wack & Blite resins will be in the show, as well as quite a few others from my wonderful sculpter, Julie B at Pretty In Plastic, as well as many more resins by others.
It's sure to be a red hot show!

Swinging Spunkees

THE SHOW IS TOMORROW!!! I hope you're planning on coming by to check out all the new great stuff. This is the last day of character introductions, and with that, I'd like to introduce you to the Swinging Spunkees who are featured in many of the new illustrations I'll be rolling out at Mobius tomorrow. Come by and check them out!!
MOBIUS
3300 W. 6th St.
Los Angeles, CA

SWINGING SPUNKEES:
They are the most amazing of creatures that start life really tiny, barely bigger than a Wammberry. If they can survive all the predators that want to make a snack of them, they will eventually grow into Giant Sea Spunkees. Gentle as a baby in either form, they live to swing, from anything and everything. Nonstop. They only sleep and eat once a week to recharge and then it's back to swinging. They are rarely seen outside their native land of Awanaki and are considered the rarest of pets.

Furrschnickens

So now that you've met the Tribalnots, allow me to introduce you to some of the other creatures that dwell in their world: The Furrshnickens. These guys are simply awesome and are featured in a number of the new illustrations that will be available at Saturday's show. Hopefully you can make it by Mobius to check out all my new stuff and enjoy some great music and a cocktail or two.

FURRSCHNICKENS:
These furry beasts are the most organized, cultured and domesticated beings in the land of Gallamarell. They strive for enlightenment, advancement and tranquility. Which means they pretty much have all the same problems we do… minus electricty and technology and stuff.

Introducing Blite, King of the Black Tribalnots

So now that you have an idea of who + what the Tribalnots are, I want to introduce you to the Kings: Wack + Blite. Well actually, you got to meet Wack yesterday as an intro to the tribe. These guys are really the stars of the show and you'll have a chance to check out the vinyl toy, paper toys and brand new illustrations featuring them.

Don't forget to stop by Mobius on Saturday to check out a bunch of new toys and illustrations, and of course, to get acquainted with the Kings

Mobius
3300 W.
6th St
Los Angeles, CA 90020

WACK (you saw his picture yesterday):
The King of the White Tribalnots is kind to a fault, tireless in his altruism and driven to defend his fellow Nots with a manic psychosis. Simply, Wack is the nicest Not you’ll ever meet and loves to spend his time cooking, especially baking or riding the Eternal Wave out on Lake Kakatittienottie.

His passion for Wammberries is legendary and has led to his nickname “The stoned King,” which might be part of the reason he’s just so nice…

BLITE:

The King of the Black Tribalnots is loud, obnoxious, foul mouthed, egomanical and tough enough to back it up. Blite loves hunting, especially big game like the Straight Horned Sneerbeast, fishing for goldfinned Plinnies, and is a raving lunatic for playing Zootball. He loves chocolate gluttoncake and hot tea, and of course, his two daughters.

Introducing the Tribalnots!

Hopefully you're getting excited about the show (I know I am), and the first chance to get up close and personal with a whole new set of creatures: The Tribalnots.

The Tribalnots are wild, fanged and clawed jungle dwellers from the land of Wammbodia. The White Tribalnots and the Black Tribalnots are just inverted versions of each other – they’re just too busy hating each other to notice. As a general rule, Tribalnots are vegetarians but once a month, they’re overcome by a primal bloodlust and major fights occur between the two tribes. The rest of the time, Tribalnots are quite peaceful, spending their time half stoned on Wammberries, enjoying climbing, swinging and poetry… oddly enough.

Come meet the whole tribe this Saturday at Mobius!
